What is FTM?
FTM stands for the Flat Tire Monitor. As air leaks, tire pressure decreases, and the tire rotates faster. ABS sensors on the wheels detect a change in wheel rotation speeds, which signifies a change in the roll radius, or pressure level, of the tires. A warning light in the instrument panel notifies the driver of the pressure loss. In case of significant pressure loss, a warning buzzer sounds. Is this for run flat tires or all the 2004-5 545's?

how do you set the ftm?? i was wondering why my gas mileage was horrible.around 13-15 mpg city and 19 freeeway, and noticed that i was always running on -7-10 psi on the tires.... so now that i have set the correctly... i would like to set the ftm... but do not know how.... it stays in "set tire pressure" then says " initializing" for a long time.... how do i activate the ftm ..... any help would do..... thanks eric

No sensors. No worry. The system uses the rotational sensors from the ABS system so any wheel will work.
The key thing to remember is that anytime you change wheels, tires, or pressure, make sure all four tires are set to the pressure you want and then re-initialize the system so it learns the new setup... |
I think some one posted that the Style 122 are run flat but they make so much noise that is not even worth to have.
Any comments on that? thanks. (i dont know if this is the right place to ask that question) |
I though it stood for "F" The Manual

ftm=rpa, but this system always wrong.sometimes the tire low pressure but nothing indicate, and sometimes the pressure is ok,but the warnning light always on.because the system just according to the different of the wheel speed to check isn't one or more tires is low pressure ,and it's direct to check the pressure.

Those problems are solved. |
I wish that they had highlighted "Step 7. Drive off." in the manual. I sat for 20 minutes staring at the "Initializing" message before I gave up and drove off.
