Default Bmw 520d engine seized

Hi all need some legal advice. Had my 520d serviced a few months ago by the dealer. 2 days ago my car came up with drive train issue, the car made loud knocking noise, lost all brakes and then into limp mode. I stopped and got the car recovered. The dealer tells me the engine has sized. Now I had no oil warming like come on to say low oil pressure. Is this a common fault with this 2013 f11 520d. The iol level is checked weekly and the dip stick is hard to read as it is always covered in oil. Is the dealer liable for this repair.

What service did you have? Did they recommend a service that you did not do (repair leaks). From the lack of detail I would say only if they changed the oil and didn't tighten the drain plug causing the oil to leak out then they would be liable anything else falls on you

The service was one that was recommended by the dealer, oil change car health check and a software update. This service is one that is carried out every 3000 miles. My point is. That the oil pressure warning dod not show before the engine stopped. I thought the whole point of a warning light was to prevent damage to the engine. This did not work. Therefore the manufacturer BMW should be liable. The dip stick was hard to read the level as it didn't show a true representation of the oil level. Even if there was a leak the oil warning light should have come on. It didn't.

The car protected itself by going into limp mode.

That will be a hard one to sell. You can try but they will come back and say we recommend this or the car has a dip stick. If you just had an oil change it must was a serious leak and they had to recommend a fix. After the factory warranty they are not liable anymore and if you declined a service you're waisting your time. Parts fail but I've never seen an oil sensor fail on a car so young. Honestly that would have to be a question for a lawyer but I would say you have no case. The only thing you can do it go in a make a big fuss and hope they cover half of it under good will warranty. If you don't go there often then they will not offer it to you.
