Red face

Not happy about that 560hp mark 4.3 0-60 is respectable but nothing revoluationary.

That is 0-62 = 4.3, so 0-60 about 4.1, still slow though. 560BHP would be OK if the car is lighter than the old one, but I do not think it will be.
The 550i M Sport I have just bought is the best bet, 0-60 = 4.8 and with a remap will = M5 or close to it without a £20K price hike.

That doesn't make it an M5 even if you equal the 0-60.

Also fitting a mechanical LSD would still not make it an M5. Nor fitting different springs nor something else... in the end an M5 is an M5 with all the goodies that come with it.

Yea I know, but I went to the Launch of the new 6 series this week and the price of the Vert specced up was £90K+ now thats way too much for such a car.
With that in mind I fear the M5 may just be "Out of reach" price wise for me IMO.

That's another matter and doesn't justify the "M vs series with mods" comparison.

im not sure I believe them 100%. Even still, the new m5 will be easily tunable, at least way more so than the v10, to 700hp or so. I'm reserving judgement until it's unveiled in Frankfurt. I just can't see it having nearly the same power as the x5 m and x6 m... But stranger things have happened

Guess Ill just keep the caddy...

Well, with the money to spend on the new M5, I rather spend it on the new upcoming 650i or save up a little bit more to purchase the new (hopefully) M6. The design just deters me away. I'm glad I was able to be an E60 owner when it was a current model. I still think the E60 M5/ E60 5 Series M-Sport look still modern and don't look outdated.

Let's wait and see until BMW officially releases the M5. I have a hard time to believe that the M5 will only be .2 seconds faster than a stock 550x which has been test around 4.5 seconds! Not to mention the Dinan package that adds another 100 hp and 100+ of torque to the 550x....

Same V8 4.4 engine as the X6M and X5M but obviously tweaked. The X's develop 555BHP but are heavy beasts. So power to weight ratio, the F10 M5 has it. It will be tuned further in the future M6 which will also use the same powerplant under int bonnet, erm "hood".
