I have heard from several people at various BMW dealers that due to US and European economic conditions, there will be a delay in the release of the new M5.
Have others heard about this?

I also just received notice from BMWCCA that the X1 is on indefinite hold for US delivery. Your European friends may have their money tied up for a while waiting for the M5.
lol well them and the US members too, Ive seen many that have deposits out there for quite a number of years in some cases here in the states...it would not suprise me, though there were some new print adds for the M5 seen this past week in Sweden...
The Europeans are on schedule for M5 deliveries beginning December/January. Everything from BMW looks like US production is still on track to begin in March for April deliveries.
The X1 has been delayed for the US market becasue BMW can't keep up with demand in the rest of the world. BMW has recently released the X1 in Canada, but it looks like they won't have enough production capacity for US demand until the LCI is ready in a couple of years.

No matter what the economy is, there are plenty of people with money who would want to buy a new M5 IMHO.

From a 'first on the list' person in the UK.
Park lane BMW are getting their first 10 m5s on jan 14 and I think they are the first in the country!
However, I've also heard rumors of a further delay because the production car is still being 'tweaked'. As someone who got one of the first E60 M5's in the US, and is first on the list for the F10, I hope they hit the March/April date...
