My father just picked up his 550 last week, but the dealer said they didn't have any winter wheels & tire packages available.

So I went on Tirerack to see if they had anything available for it and most importantly compare price. On the website it would only give me the option to buy 19 inch winter wheels, is it possible to fit 18 inch wheels on it?

The standard wheels are 18's. Getting the sports package adds the 19 inch wheels. Bottom line is yes, you can fit 18's to the 550...

Yes, and if you are expecting to drive in extreme winter conditions, you should not use very low profile tires - some e60 owners in extreme winter areas use the 17" standard wheel and tire sizes. (Select the "Base" 550 model to search for wheel and tire combinations in the 17" size)

BTW, if your Dad shops and buys thru the link in my signature he can receive an additional 4% rebate.

Isn't kind of early to start shopping for snow tires?

Maybe not if you live in Alaska.

BMW does make an "official" 18" winter OEM setup...but you have to check under the M5. But any 17's or 18's will work that are OEM for RWD E60's. Buy the 18" Sport Edition A7 rims. They are one of the only ones that are hubcentric for the E60, and this is what many of the BMW dealerships order for their customers for winter. 245/40/18 tires. This is what I have.

That's ok...these are ET20 and could use a big bump out on the E60. I am guessing they'll fit. I still have a year to worry about it. Bah!
