well..ARS is on the x5 and x6 correct ("Adaptive drive")? perhaps that will carry over into the f10 x-drive..

right, Adaptive Drive is essentially ARS plus some trick variable dampers so you'd think it should indeed be possible!

I assume that the F10 550i with x-drive will follow the same path as the 2010 750s with x-drive when it comes to the sports pack. That means you will get everything in the M Sports Package that the RWD 550 gets except Active Roll Stabilization.
Also, assuming the new eight-speed transmission includes a Sport Automatic w/shift paddles option like the current six-speed, I predict that, just as with the E60, that option will not be available on X-drive F10s.

now in dry conditons, sure it might not handle as well as a rear wheel drive, but when you need the x drive, it will shine brightly.

At 51 years old and with 25 years of driving 5ers, I agree with the "kid". Living in Boston, I'd love to have xDrive for the five to ten days a year of bad snow. And if BMW could give it too me with ARS and active steering, I'd be all over it. But as its now developed, this kid thinks you give up too much for the 360 days that xDrive isn't needed.
