The F10 (5 series) and F12 (6 series) will have the TT 4.4 V8 found currently in the E71 X6 xDrive50i and F01 (7 series).
I think you're confusing the NA 4.0 V8 in the E90/92 M3 with the TT 4.4 V8.

I know there is a 4.4 V8
what I mean is you get about the same hp with less money and more mpg
there is going to be a 560i too
here is the engines for the F10
Start-stop automatic transmission will be used for the six cylinder engine, in order to increase fuel efficiency. There will be a wide range of engine offerings, from the European 204hp 2.0L twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine to more powerful ones like the twin-turbo V8 4.4 liter engine.
The petrol engines? power range from about 180 to about 407 horsepower and the diesels from 180 to approximately 290 hp.

I think outside the US a NA V8 will be available. In the US it will be TT V8 & TT I6 ... other than the M's which are supposed to go TT too later.

A TT M5? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the modding possibilities be as high as the 535? Throw a chip in here, remap an ECU there and you've got an M5 mauling Italian exotics. Or is it more complex than that? At least increasing the boost a bit should have the M5 tearing it up, not to mention losing a couple pounds from moving from a V10 to an 8.

Now it's all about get in ... turn on the gas .. put the transmission in "D" and .. step on it. I am NOT saying it is BAD THING but it is NOT on which the //M brand was founded ... !
The X5 and X6 //Ms (which are really a "new" top of the line regular series models ... ) are an abomination of sorts and the //M engineers KNOW IT .. they did it to SAVE THIER JOBS and the division (thanks to a piss-poor economy) .. and I applaud them for coming up with a beauty of a power plant in such a short period of time. But make no mistake ... the X5/6M in NO CONCEIVABLE WAY is even REMOTELY built from a track platform (prob. <10 laps on a hot day in a race track and you'll need a tow truck to haul your a$$ out). They said it matched the 'Ring time with the E46 M3 .. but JEEZ .. that's with almost 200 hp and 200+ ft/lb of torque MORE.
And ... when ever did //M decide to build and tune something called an //M sport automatic with an //M sticker stuck on that norelco shaver!
Yet I still believe that all that quick money and huge profits that these cars (hopefully) generate will actually lead the //M to the drawing board to build true race-bred (high revving turbo charged) M3 version from the ground up that will compete with the best. If they ever do what they did to the X5/X6 to the next //M3 ... oh well .. we'll leave it at that.
