My Ride: 2010 E63 AMG -- Palladium Silver/Black.
Love this car but looking to switch things up to keep things fresh. 2nd AMG in a row, but toying with coming back into the BMW fold!
Any way, I think I am going to go with it. At $950/month including taxes, $0 down, except normal start-up fees (1st month pmt, reg, acq fee, etc.) 12K/year, for 39 months, I don't think I can get hurt too bad if I end up not liking it...which is doubtful.
Thanks everyone for the sanity check. You guys rock!

Another thing, performance-wise, you may actually be able to get a chip that can make it as fast (if not faster), and I'm sure handling on it will not be worse then even the AMG E63...

The MB is being sold "as new" because "new" means not registered. I would consider this a used car. That being mentioned, I would check to see what year it was made. I bet it was an early 2010 and has been demo'd for the past year by any and every person interested in driving it. BTW, I drove a CLS AMG ( sounded like a hot rod btw ) a year ago and was told it was the GM's car, but since I was interested...
I would look at the references to used E63 AMG's online. 1 year old, low mileage. I would also have the car checked out by an independent garage exactly like you would if you were buying a used car.

Well it's not really a fair comparison to begin with.....4.4 vs 6.2...guess who wins? I'd bet the 6.2, though, eats gas like there's no tomorrow.
The M5 is the real rival to the E63, not the 550i (which really competes with the E550).

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
BMW is becoming less BMWish, and MB is becoming more BMWish. When you compare handling compare similarily equipted cars, you can now get real sports suspensions and summer tires on the MB's. In sport mode the steering is fast and the suspension is firm, I just adjusted my tire pressure to where I like it, a bit higher in the rear over recommended than the fronts. I did this with all of my BMW's as well, It dials in a little more oversteer.
I have 2000 miles and have been very impressed with the E550 Cab.

The E63, for the same reason I would take the F10 M5 over a E550...

Well ultimately, it's your money and you have to live with it everyday. But with any major purchase, make sure you know what you're getting into. I would test drive both cars very thoroughly before making a final decision. To me, it's ludicrous to make a final decision solely based on other people's opinions. What you decide should ONLY be based on what your needs are and your significant other's.
All that being said, sure the E63 will be a bit faster than 550i. But if you live and work in a big city, you'll probably never have much opportunity to use all that power. The E63 will also have slightly worse fuel economy but if you can afford these types of cars, buying gas shouldn't be an issue. As far as snow traction, in my opinion, AWD is vastly over-rated. If you live in a big city with good snow removal, AWD is not necessary and just adds more weight to the car. A good set of snow tires should be more than adequate. (When I had my 545i, I had no problems in the snow with winter tires). Heck, the vast majority of cars in Europe don't even have AWD and you wonder how those people get around!
