hey you guys can do what ya want! I have no interest in another 5er and what anyone does does not matter. I am just telling you if you
previous have driven an e60 or 3 series this feels like an absolute boat-feels like hte outgoing seven series at least. It does indeed pull harder through the midrange than the N52 and I dont at all doubt it hits 60 faster but how it does it does not feel very quick. To me its the feeling and not numbers on paper. You dont ever get pushed back in your seats or anything like the 335. I am not sayings its not faster than a 530 but for what it shows on paper, it doesnt feel nearly as much of a gap like the 335 did compared to my 530.

All I am saying if you are a guy who previously liked the e60s adn think this will be an upgrade-it will be a downgrade in performance in every perceptible way even though on paper it may be equal. Its not nimble even with full sports/edc and it may be so refined you dont feel the acceleration. If you want to spedn 60k on that than by all means. Just make sure you go drive one first!

It sounds like OP drove a loaner w/o sport package or with driving mode set to normal or comfort. In order to make a fair comparison between e60 sport and F10, you need to set F10 to sport (both drivetrain and chassis) or sport+ mode. I own both e60 and F10, after driving more than 1000 miles I realized that I do not miss my e60 at all. For me F10 is better car in every aspect, it is definitely upgrade from e60. My 2008 550i M Sport went to my son-in-law last week.

honestly, I dont think Diamond said anything bad.. Dont get mad at me John.. I know his history BELIEVE ME.. lol.. I think he used the term "boat" vaguely and possibly was misunderstood.. which seems to happen to all his posts and comments, but thats a whole other story.. He always makes himself look bad and he does it so very well even, lol..

I just think its a longer wheel base(pretty sure) and when your not used to it, it may certainly feel like a "boat". Hes not the best person to take knowledge and opinions from.. And as one other member said, maybe it didnt have the sport package, which will make the suspension feel different, different wheels, etc.. hes comparing apples to oranges..lol..

I think any car you drive other then your own is going to feel real different for sure, that being said, we all usually hate our loaners right.. lol.. At least I have, lol..

I totally disagree with you !
I test drove a 535 with sport package 2 weeks ago and it was very impress with the car. The engine moves the car very well and it got plenty of power !

But OMG that thing is a freakin boat that I have never experienced before. Even the old 7 seemed more nimble. It was the sheer size of the thing around the corners and on the freeway and even around town I felt like I was in a tank. This is compared to my 07 e60 sport.

It had nothing to do with the suspension which gripped just fine and had no issues with that. The steering feel also is great and I dont get the complaints some e60 folks have with this.

But it has SAD acceleration. I have a 530 255hp model and it feels slow compared to a 335i that I have had numerous times. I never drove the e60 535i but this 4100 pound F10 had really really sad acceleration that felt no better and even worse as the revs climbed compared to my 530. This is signifigantly worse than the 3 or the e60 because those models made my car feel like a turtle. I cant imagine how it would be without 8 gears (shorter gearing). The 528i must be beyond slow and would not be tolerable.

The car overall though just has no fun to it. Its an amazing amazing family cruiser. So comfy and quiet. The comfort seats are incredible and the cabin design is great. Although I really really dont like the Idrive knob placement. It feels much more on the passenger side than drivers and you have to reach over to get at it. Prob would get used to that obviously.

My conclusion is if you want a tank to protect your family in and cruise on highways this is the car for you. If you want any ounce of a sport saloon-this is no longer your car. Also what I learned is that n55 is a disapointing engine in any 4000 plus vehicle since you dont get the thrust of power like hte smaller cars but you have to deal with the lag (which was signifigant). If I am going to take that level of power, I prefer my NA instant response in my car than that lag with no extra oomph. Either way its a total no brainer why every e60 guy who liked the sporty side of thins more than luxury is going for the M3 or probably f30...no brainer.

IMO you need to go for a 550 to nmake this car worth owning
