Unless you find a car that was ordered by mistake, you're almost surely not going to find a 6MT 535i unless you order one. The good news is that BMW makes the order process pretty painless. It'll take about 6 weeks once you have a production slot to get a custom order to SoCal. I'm on my second custom order, a 6MT 535i!
That sounds like the only way to go. Do you just go to a local dealer and say you want to order it per your specs? What is the best way to negotiate the price down, since it's a guaranteed sale for the dealer?

Yes, spec out the car just the way you want it and then negotiate the price. Really no different than buying a car off the lot though some dealer will not give as much leeway on orders. Others (such as Gene's rec above, Steve Thomas) will give you a great deal. Shop around but you really should be able to get just ($500-$1,000) above invoice...

Even with internet and all its glory, local stores are still having a tough time getting the word out about their inventory. Consumers surely are appreciative of the efforts they have made, but the fact remains that transferring appropriate information online has proven to be a challenge.Facebook Layouts
