To me, the F10's tail lights look nothing like the Infiniti's.
On the other hand, the new Infiniti M 37/56 rear end looks identical to the Mazda 6's.

If you look real hard, you can find similarities in pretty much every vehicle out there. Everybody copies everybody to some degree nowdays. With so much competition going on right now, that's inevitable.
However, the F10's rear end is really a tribute to the E34. This is according to the interview in the Roundel magazine from the designer himself, Adrian van Hooydonk.

Im not saying its horrible but it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I looked at the rear end, which is really not what should be happening with a BMW in my opinion. They should be setting the pace not looking to the past.

BMW is going retro . . . like the Camero and Mustang. The only difference is BMW is not breeding from the the same pedigree for the F10.
For all we know, F10 might have had top notch designers from Infiniti, Hyundai, and Lexus. You never know what happens in tough ecomonic times.
Look for a facelift F10 to be drastically different or rather like the current G37.

The F10's exterior was designed by Adrian van Hooydonk......and no, he wasn't a designer for Infiniti, Hyundai or Lexus.

Here's his bio:

Note that Adrian used to be Chris Bangle's protege. So for those who continue to complain about the F10's design, remember that the F10's heritage has more in common with the E60's than you think.
