My Ride: 2013 F10 550 - Black Metallic
F10 has had the same reaction as the E60 did. Everyone hated it first...F10 is sweet looking. Look at the difference in wheel base...

Car designers have told me that silver is ideal--white and black both tend to wash out in different ways. But kudos to the OP for providing these photos at all. It is very helpful to have both cars in the same color and angles.
I'm struck by how much wider the F10 looks from the front and rear. The main strengths of the E60 for me are the more aggressive front fenders and lower body.

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
As mkaresh said it hard to get nice pics of black cars but these pics tells still a lot.
Thanks to my friends iPhone4. 8 of 9 pics is taken with his phone.
I like the looks of the F10 more than the E60 because:
- I love the F10 front with the ?old fashoned? shark front,
the Neue Classe 2000 (1600 and 1800) and the E12, E28 and the E34 had it also.
- The front is much more aggressive than the E60?s, the big kidneys look great,
and the front fenders are actually wider on the F10.
- The C(D)-pillar on the F10 has a coupe look, that the E60 don?t have.
- Much longer wheelbase and a bit lower windows boosts the coupe look.
- The outside door handles are now lined with the body. On the E60 they look like hanging tits.
- The rear looks a lot more massive and wide on the F10.
Almost the Porsche 911 effect.
- The interior on the F10 is way superior compared to the E60.
For the F10 19? wheels is a minimum. I think the 20?'s are just right.
Just my 2 cents about the F10 looks, it looks even better in the real life.
PS. Did we ever get comparison pics of the E39 / E60 with cars the same color etc?

I also agree with a lot of your comments above and your F10 looks great on those 20s!
What frustrates me a little with the F10, is that IMHO it looks just like a 7er from the front and a 3er from the back. The E60 has it's own identity / look. I do like the F10 design, however get the feeling its heading the same direct as Audi, where all the cars "look the same". That individuality of the models was something that always appealed to me about BMW.
It will be interesting to see the M-Sport F10 and E60 models side by side, with the right wheels, e.g. 20/21 on F10 and 19/20 on E60.
I'm looking forward to getting into an F10 at some stage, but for now I am not feeling the urge to change and am still feeling a lot of for my E60 M-Sport

is it just me or does the f10 look really huge compared to the e60? not sure if i like that
Edit:
never mind... the shark nose was throwing me off in the head to head... they both look pretty damn good

Great pictures. I also like the front of the E60 better. However I am beginning to like my F10 better all the time.
I wish I had taken pictures of my E60 and F10 together, before I let the E60 go. They were both black sapphire.

I don;t have to look hard to see that the F10 trumps the E60 in style, function, and features. The E60 was hideous and combination of different designs from front to back that didn't go together to make it coherent. The F10 is imposing and very classic looking as well as sporty looking.
