Autoblog.com reported that BMW has instructed it's dealers to stop taking orders on the e60 - reportedly.
Aside from hoping this isn't a "tonymac" (BTW where/how are you, buddy?), does anyone have concrete info to confirm or deny this?

Yes others are confirming the same thing. BimmerFile says special orders need to be in by Oct 9. The M5Board had a post on this back in July.
I can't believe how nostalgic I am already about the E60.

The days are winding down. It's kinda like how I felt on my 20th birthday a few months ago, that it was a new segment of my life and I was leaving my teen years behind. You kinda feel frantic, even if you aren't buying an E60. This forum should remain the same for at least two more years as not everyone will be getting the F10, or at least not the first batch of them. So I'm not too worried. I feel the 535i, as well as any car with the N54 engine, will live on in infamy, very much the same way any M-model car would just because of the tuning capabilities of the car. People still talk about the E46 M3, and tuners are still coming out with new and improved superchargers and other parts for the cars. The E30 has always been a legend, and I feel the x35s will do so as well.

I'm pretty close to the decision of just keeping mine forever, actually. Was talking about it today with the "Boss" and she agreed too - if we don't get an excellent deal on a new 335 or a 535 before the winter, we're keeping this car. So my next car will actually have to be my "second" car. The only two things I wish mine had are the iPod adapter (which I'll fit if I keep the car) and the folding rear seat (which if I don't retrofit, it won't be from lack of trying).
I'm not nostalgic for the e60, but to me it is becoming more and more the symbol of the dying breed of cars - and that makes me nostalgic. Anyway, let's hope the F10 is way hotter than the E60 and then I'll just talk my Girl (aka the Boss) into getting the F10 with the TT V8 in a couple of years.

But yeah, at least yours is a definite keeper with all the crap you've got on it. BTW I've emailed the guy from the show to see about entering your car.

I dont know about US dealers but in HK every time there is a brand new car coming out they will sell the old 1 with loads of free options, or a big discount like my.
I just ordered my 2 weeks ago so they are still selling them in HK.
I know they are at lest still making the car until December because my friend just got a 523i which she got 20% off too
