My Ride: 2005 525i - mo mods...just got it
Default

Hello members, I currently own a 2005 e60 with 160k miles and thinking about getting an F10. Can't make up my mind though, should I look for a preowned 2011 with some miles or get a brand new one? I never owned a brand new car because I always felt like the car loses lots of value as soon as you drive off from the dealer. What I really want is tough to find, my config would be 535i M package, Alpine white, oyster and black interior, cold weather, premium, seeating, technology and maybe ceramic controls?

What do you all think? New or keep looking for a preowned? Can I really save that much buying one with 15 20 K miles ?

it really comes down to price, if buying used is worth it. i'd expect at least 10k off for a car with 10-15k miles.
the f10 is a fairly new model, and used prices are towards the high side. you may be better off going new.

That's what I see, used ones are not that much less. And when I do find one that's reasonable it's already gone by the time I call the dealer.

You can easily save some $10-20k on a used F10.

Your new car will be a used car after you picked it up

I'll never buy a used again.

You never know if you have gotten the whole story on why it was turned in for resale, miles rolled back, accident etc.

Carfax is a wonderful thing, but is easily worked around.

I once traded in a car with 152k miles on it, and looked up the VIN years later and saw that it was sold at auction afterward with 92k miles.

If you buy the car you really want, love it and keep it for a good long time, the depreciation is a non issue.

You can't put a price on knowing every single mile and problem the car has driven.

+1

The best cars I have owned have been the ones I ordered directly from the factory with the specific options/colors I wanted.

Set the price in your mind you are willing to pay for a used vehicle. BMW's warranty is about the best in the business. Rest easy if you purchase from a dealer you have a good relationship with. So, if you like the vehicle, it's new to you and there will be extra cash in your pocket.

just my 2 cents. If you keep cars 7-8 years and get 150-200k miles out of them, buy what you want new, take care of it, and keep it til it falls apart.

I am ready to spend 45-50K on a 2011 535

It seems impossible to find what i want.

White, Oyster interior, M Package, NAV, HUD.

check this:
http://www.mota.com/buy/listing/2011-BMW-528i/meb31dc

why would anyone want to get rid of the car they just bought and only driven it 1500 miles?

Some people are speculating that the F10 N55 will get a bump in power soon, when/if that happens you'll easily find your 2011 in the 45-50K range.
