Chaps,
I'm sure you're all ready seen these pictures but I haven't seen a thread.

Personally I think it looks OK. Performance and handling should be top notch.
I do wonder who would make it down to the south of France first? the M5 or my 520da?

My Ride: 2011 BMW 550i; Dark Graphite Metalliic/Oyster, 4.4 TT V8, 8-sp AT, Sports Package, Dynamic Handling, Premium Package 2, Cold Weather Package, HUD
Performance doesn't seem all that improved from the current M5 or even the F10 550i. You could get a Dinan F10 chip for around $3K and get similar power numbers. I was expecting at least 600hp for the new M5.

"In addition, the BMW Concept M5 features innovative rear differential technology also developed by BMW M GmbH. The Active M Differential maximizes traction in cornering by using targeted variation of locking torque between the right and left drive wheels.
Active control of the multi-plate lock inside the rear differential is highly accurate and fast. This ensures that wheel spin is prevented even on slippery road surfaces and in the event of differing friction coefficients between the right and left wheels, in narrow bends or during sudden lane changes. Optimized traction thereby facilitates the highest level of vehicle stability and dynamics during acceleration out of bends even under the most demanding conditions."

I have to say I'm not particularly impressed based on the visuals of this "concept" (which is, of course, the finished production car). That said, we need to wait to see the final specs and get to actually drive the beast. I am sure it will be a blast, but there are a lot of great competitors out there right now.
The torque vectoring rear diff isn't anything new, it's been available on other cars and here it may well be the unit from the X5M/X6M

They look like garage black sprayed M Sport 19" wheels
This is only the "Concept M5". No way those wheels will be on the real show case.
If the F10 M5 will have under 580 hp and smaller than 20" wheels,
I will be very disappointed.

I think BMW wants the market to speculate about the hp but they will eventually surprise everyone with the new M5 F10. I would think the new M5 will be close to 600 hp and for those who want more power I'm sure Dinan will bring something out to boost the power on that beast even more!
My two cents!
