Is there a differance between the new Black II compared with the old Black (both Jet Black in US) or is't just my delusion and high age?
I have had black BMW cars: one E36 (316i Jet Black), two E46 coupes (320i and 325i metal Black) and a dark blue E60 (525iA Mystic Blue) and all these cars seemed dirty after a day from washing.
But my F10 needs no more than one wash in a month and it looks very clean from a small distance
My new car was waxed by the dealer when I got it (one year ago) but still...

Ric, it must be the fact that your new car is still pretty much scratchless, but when it gathers the usual swirl marks, the paint will look like there was a veil on it even if the paint is clean.

I have a new jet black paint on the hood and bumper. The rest is 3 years old jet black paint.
It's almost impossible to see the difference between the new and old paint in 90% of the lightning conditions. And the car feels slightly muddy a few days after cleaning.
Yet it occurs to me that F10s are more deep and always appear clean. I share the exact same feeling with you. I'd say the new color has been modified.

It is actually the same color with two more layers of clear lacquer,
