Got a call from the dealer yesterday that my 545i 6 speed is here. Went by to take a look at it. The Jet Black with beige looks fantastic. Did notice a slightly different steering wheel than what the 530's have. It is not the sport wheel seen on the smg photos, but similar to the 530 with some titanium colored trim on the left and right sides of the center part (hard black plastic in the 530). Also seems a bit thicker. Did not drive it as it was indoors but cranked it and the clutch seem a bit lighter than my 2001 530 5 speed. The 8 cylinder sounds great, but I would have liked a bit more "sound" out of it. Too quiet. Shift linkage seems a bit crisper but not a significant difference.

Car is being prepared and will be ready for pickup this afternoon. I will give driving impressions tonight.

Farbton;

Congratulations on your new ride.

I'd like to know if you happen to encounter any new MB E500s, how the 545 manual will stand up against them. (Not that you should 'rough up' your new car or anything like that....)

We are very anxious to read your driving report. Pictures showing the wheels and brakes would be appreciated.

Also, please look at your window sticker and end the debates about whether the $54,300 base price for the 545i 6-speed does or does not include Sport Package.

Are the inside door pulls trimmed in aluminum/titanium or wood?

Finally, when the car is fully warmed up, what redline does the tach show?

THANKS! ENJOY!!!

Is this the steering wheel?:

I found that picture on the AC Schnitzer Website.

The steering wheel does not have the 10 & 2 oclock "grips" on it. Other than that it looks identical to the picture posted above.

Hello,

Does your car have an Sport-button like the 6 series. This feature is called Dynamic Driving Control (in German: Fahrdynamik Control). In the manual there is mentioned that automatic and SMG has.
But does the 6 speed has this button, too?
