It's not owned by Ford anymore?
As of today, Jaguar (and Land Rover) is still owned by Ford. Tata do have preferred bidder status (from Jan 1, 2008), that's all. A deal looks likely, but it's not happened yet. Personally I think Ford should keep both brands - they pumped in a huge amount of $$$ over the years and that's now manifested itself in a much better product range and some of best cars from either marque in years. I'd like to see Ford get some return on its investment.

The XF is a nice car. However, I wouldn't mess with first year model, especially the Jag.

XF is overrated.

There was one at the LA Auto Show, nothing special.

The preproduction models looked 100x times better, for some reason they decided to use some ugly American styled front headlights.

If Consumer Report is what you basing reliability ratings on, then none of us should be driving a V8 E60 as it's not even rated. The V6 one doesn't score well either. For what it's worth, I find the XF back seat and trunk space smaller, it's more of a CTS class, kind of in between the 3 and the 5. The gadgets in the XF are cool though. I used to have the S-Type 3.0 and I liked it, the best feature was the heated windshield, never had to scrap ice. I had it for 4 yrs and I had absolutely no problems with it. Just very expensive oil changes and premium gas. It was more reliable than my Infiniti G35 - which I traded it in after 2yrs.

I would be bored of this front end looking, from the 1st month of ownership. The interior, not something very special as well...

Jaguar XF is the other reason F10 may be out in March 2009. One of my friends is picking up a Jag XF. Its a four door with either 300hp/310 ft lb or supercharged 420hp/408 ft lb 4.2 liter V8 engines. The pricing is similar to the 535 and 550. The local dealer has one, may go see it today.
The F10 will be out as soon as engineering, testing and production benchmarks have been reached-- a date that has been more or less set in stone for 2 years. BMW can't just move the release date up a year in the middle of development because they think it's a good sales strategy.

You just put more resources on it.
We're just board- since the "SMG vs. 6spd" and "535 vs 550" wars, we are searching for something to get passionate about again.

I guess BMW could defrost that underground bunker full of frozen engineers that they keep around for when they feel like fast-tracking an entire product line Same with the dozens of third party suppliers that have been given target dates now moved up 18 months.

I've got a shiny $100 bill for anyone driving an F10 in March 2009.

not to forget what will happen to Jaguar after TATA is done buying both Jaguar and Land Rover , they are going to sell off Jaguar, that was the only way they could buy Land Rover...... How about a Jag Nano??? seriously if a BMW driver likes that front and interior....i have nothing to say.....even a Lexus GS is better....or the A6
