Hi guys,
Never bought a diesel before and currently drive an '06 E60 530i. Considering a F10 520D now due to budget constraints.
Any feedback on the diesel? Good? Bad? Diesel sound?

Agree, (F10 520dA) low consumption (average 5.5l/100km on my recent 30 000km), but noticed that newest version of 520d can get even lower numbers.
About power, I think there is never enough power. Or maybe Veyron has enough with 1001hp, but it has other constraints.

Great car. Not a rocket by any means but handling and general composure on the road is fantastic. Also amazing is what BMW did with a 2L diesel and a small turbo. Once you get going you would think the engine is at least twice in capacity.

not bad, 3.9L/100km.
I have once achieved similar numbers (average was 3.7L/100km), but to be honest, it requires some special attention and driving style to achieve such numbers...and also optimal weather conditions.

This is my second 520dA. The F10 520dA is a very great car. Economic (my urban/suburban driving avarage 6,35 l/100km), very comfy and silent, powerful and quiet engine and very good looks (with 18" wheels or larger).
Techically both the engine and 8-speed autotranny are over the competition (M-B 220 and Audi A6).
The E60 530i has maybe a bit more power in the higher revs but that's it.
A great choice of a car by all standards but the PDC is a must, for such a large car.
See my pics from the signature!

For what it's worth, I used to own a 520d E60 but just recently changed to a 523i F10..... I guess diesel really didn't do it for me.... I hated the sound and now with the 6-cylinder engine, I'm smiling...
