Just got a preliminary UK brochure, and standard 17"s do have RFT

17" light alloy V-spoke style 236 with Run Flat tyres

Boy it looks good

There are some great youtube vid's of the new 3rd Gen RFT - do a search. There are also some threads on other forums which seem to indicate that the Bridgestone 3rd Gen RFT are superb tyres.

it is a disgrace that BMW has dropped the option of a spare tire on the f10... the repair kits are not the same.

it should be for the customer to decide whether he wants runflats or not, whether he wants a spare tire or not...

It might be aftermarket purchase, like on the E60/E61, still it cost 200 Euros (as I just found out) to have a spare wheel, probably more on the new F10.

Hopefully, the trunk has the appropriate space for the spare wheel like the current model. If not it will need to strapped down in the trunk taking up valuale space. The F10 saloon / Sedan already looks like it does not have large trunk space as the wheel arches come into the trunk a long way.

US spec cars might have a spare wheel as standard - like today - anyone in US can comment on this from preliminary brochure ?

If there is not spare at all then there are going to be lots of F10 drivers stranded 100kms / miles from home with flat tyres.

from what i'm reading on the german boards, you can get your car with or without run flats. depends on the trim you option for.

No spare wheel option for the f10 - not even aftermarket. clearly looks like they have done for the e90: no space for a spare wheel in the boot...

That is a very bad move from BMW. Would make me seriously rethink buying the F10.

A friend with run-flats got a puncture at midnight, 150 miles from home, so had to stay in a hotel. Next morning he spent 3 hours trrying to get a new tyre fitted to his car which was parked in the motorway service area - not easy.

Anyway his journey was delayed by 1.5 days and lots of unexpected cost - just for a flat tyres !!! Meanwhile his other car (Audi convertable) has full-size spare.

I mean, what are F10 drivers meant to do if they get a flat ? This is crazy !

I've had RFT for 3 years and once they were all worn out, I immediately changed to a non-RF and experienced immediate & significant difference! I definitely will not go for RFT, regardless of which generations they are!

No spare is a disastrous move! Personally, I don't like the look of the front of the F10! Will not purchase a F10 unless drastic changes have been done with an M-tech body kits or F10 M5! I'm hoping the F13 6 Series will look much better than the F10!

In many cases, the tyre dealer does not have the RFT tyre in stock. So you would have to wait a few days to get the tyre replaced. What are you supposed to do in the mean time? Get a rental? It is probably cheaper and quicker to have your car with non-RFT's towed to the tyre dealer.

BMW Sweden has changed the specs for the E60/61. Currently no car is delivered with RFT's if you choose the standard rims, except for the 18" M rim.

According to the swedish F10 broschure, non-RFT with tyre mobility kit is the standard for all models. RFT is an additional option. And there is no option to add a spare tyre. I guess there is not even room for it.
