My Ride: BMW 528i
Lexus LS460
Lexus GX470
Lexus RX300 Silversport
I've never driven a 550i E60 so I don't know how your stand point will be but I love my F10 535i! It's got a little more power than my previous E60 528i but it doesn't "hug" the road as much as the E60 did. Suspension (I have a non-sport F10, my E60 was non-sport too) feels softer too than my E60.

My Ride: May 2008 530D "M" package Exclusive line.
My 2 E60's were diesel cars and my F10 as well but as far as comfort and finition / details go, the F10 is a great car.
I have a sport chassis (M Pack) and I ordered the car without adaptive suspension because I prefer a firmer suspension all the time.
Despite this, I can choose between EcoPro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ programs which will manage the firmness in the steering wheel, the responsiveness of the gearbox and the sensitivity of the throttle pedal.
On the other hand, I think that the Surround View option is a must because the hood is huge and its design prevents from seeing the "corners" of the car during manoeuvres (you see less than in the E60).
Of course that's only my point of view after less than 3 days behind the F10's steering wheel...

My Ride: E90 M3
Model Year: 2011
I went through this process in late 2010 as my 2008 550 lease was ending. The F10 is a great car but in the end I made the move to my M3. Several factors drove my decision including the size/ride of the F10 and the turbo charged engine.
Strictly my opinion here but I felt the E60 was a sporty car (not a sports car!) with some luxury amenities. In the F10 I think that BMW has swing to the luxury side as the expense of the sportiness of the car. Don't get me wrong, the 550 hauls ass! And it handled very well but it just felt more like a luxury car ride, even in Sport mode.
I will say as part of this shift that the interior of the F10 is a real upgrade from the E60!
The F10 is also slightly bigger than the E60. It is only a little over an inch but with the F10 hood line, the car just seems so much bigger. The E60 hood sloped down to the front bumper while the F10 is nearly flat to the front. While only slightly longer, the hood on the F10 makes the car appear much longer when you are sitting behind the wheel.
Finally, having had a bad experience with a previous turbo engine (an Audi) and the high pressure fuel pump issues on BMW's 3.5 liter engine (535, 335), I was hesitant to be an early buyer of the 550. Admittedly I have not heard of any issue with the new engine but hindsight is 20/20.
Ultimately you need to drive the car and form your own opinion on the car. You will not go wrong with the F10 as it is a great car. I simply chose to stick with a more sporty car this go around, hence the M3.
