These pics may be pretty close to the fact.

But it's still almost a year to the real car.

The Consept F10 will be seen in Frankfurt Auto Show this fall.

The article (which is made up of info given to the magazine direct from BMW) doesn't say whether the 4.8 is turbocharged. It does have this phrase in it "Das doppelt aufgeladene direkt einspritzende".
Confirm "doppelt aufgeladene" means it's a Bi-Turbo.

...and no M5 Touring! Hey, back to basics maybe?

Interesting read about the new xDrive system, pity they don't say when it's due.

Exclamation

I hope they are kidding about the 6. Even some one like me with no taste finds it ugly

I haven't been a BMW fan/owner for long, but as a kid I was around them alot since neighbors and family friends owned them. I gotta say, BMW has really changed, at least aesthetically, in the past couple of years. The pre-E34, the E34, and the E39 all looked very similar, and the "evolution" in style was very gradual. The E60 was a HUGE change, but still, most of us could stomach it. What the hell is this? Why do the lights look like they were stolen off the new Z4? The car looks like it's a Japanese car, just slightly spruced up. The lights of the E34/9 made the car look angry and menacing, as did the lights of the E60. If I saw that car coming at me, I would think it was the new Chevy Malibu or something.

And the new 6er.....looks like the 2005 GTO. Is BMW going for the American car look? Because the cars they're trying to emulate, if they are, are what brought down GM in the first place. The 7er, I grew accustomed to its looks, but then again, I didn't own one so I wasn't that bothered by the oversized grills. On the 5er, it looks like a hillbilly smiling with his piano-teeth.

And it seems like these photos are in fact legitimate, so there's no more "hoping" they tweak this and that to make it more palatable. This is how it's gonna be.

The article (which is made up of info given to the magazine direct from BMW) doesn't say whether the 4.8 is turbocharged. It does have this phrase in it "Das doppelt aufgeladene direkt einspritzende". The direkt einspritzende means "direct injection", but I'm wondering what the doppelt aufgeladene means. I know doppelt is "double" and aufgeladen means to load something up, so it's entirely possible (please someone with better German than me confirm) that this means biturbo.

If this is a normally aspirated 4.8 liter, then using the just-above-100PS-per-liter that the M boys managed on the E36 and E46 M3's and the E39 and E60 M5's, then 550PS is easily possible. On the other hand, if it is turbocharged, then why would the 4.4Liter manage 555PS and the 4.8Liter only get 550PS. So it's seeming unlikely that it's turbocharged.

"Doppelt aufgeladene" means "double-charged" which would most likely referring to turbos rather than superchargers. It would be the same one on the current X6 5.0.

This thing works.

Sure,

the new xDrive will weight less and will use less energy compared to current one; so less energy will be lost when transferred from the engine to the wheel. Also, it will improve the existing "dynamic" version of the xDrive in the X6. How? I like to know that too! And again, no info when it will hit the market.

PS is German for horsepower (PferdeStarke = horse strength). It's very close to US horsepower. For example a 545i has 333PS which is 325HP.
