I am no longer a hater, but likely to be an owner.

test drove a F10 550i MSport today.

my '08 550i sport is a great 5er, but the F10 is a step above.

Yes, heavier by 400lbs, perhaps softer, but what I felt in the seat of my pants while driving this beast in and out of traffic way above speed limit was very compelling.

car is very smooth, solid..more so than my E60 550i. extremely powerful. gets up and goes.

really like'd the much improved interior, electronics, but exterior design I'm still not quite there.

that said, my lease comes due in June. I've always ordered direct from factory, heres what I what im leaning towards...

Msport 550i
Alpine White
Oyster /Black interior
most all options...

feedback appreciated

Did you take any curves in it? How was that?

Most importantly, how was the steering feel at limit and the body roll during those lateral g's, as compared to the E60 550 sport?

I completely agree with 550i now. I drove the CTS-V, MB, Audi S5,Corvette... and the 550i is by far the best product that meets the sports capable luxury sedan requirement i had. I've read lots of posts and understand the pure sports driver enthusiast perspective, its just not mine. Clearly BMW was looking to expand their addressable market and found me :-)

Never owned an E60 fiver before so I cant compare but the combo of perfection inside, agressive look outside and handling galore convinced me. Son just took delivery on an M3 so I'll drive it to get a sense of the difference but for now i have mine on a boat headed this way.

Msport 550i
Dark Metallic Grey
Oyster /Black interior
all options except HUD
will add Escort 9500ci, just wont leave home without it.

(Moved back from Munich in 2009, BMW dominates the mindset there)

I agree. I'll pickup an F10 in a couple years as well. Call me cheap but I usually wait a couple years after model release to buy. Can't wait to hear all about your driving impressions once you get it!

Dialed it to sport plus, my friend and CA made sure it was adjusted there during my freeway romp. I did dial it down to normal as well, still felt fine.

Hey, I live in San Diego, never going to come anything close to track this rig, just need absolute confidence when meandering throughout the multitude of So. Cal. road experiencess.

Steering felt great, granted limited experience over a 5 mile loop.

Lateral G's were at least as good as my E60.
