I'm back after a couple of years away from this forum. Went from my last E60 to a E70 X5.

Now the time has come to come back to the 5 series so I'm looking to pick up a new F10.

Was at the dealer and decided to go with Alpine White with the M-Sport kit.

Now the hesitation begins between the 535 and 550!

Test drove the 535 and it felt pretty good! But they had no 550 for me to try out. My sales guy mentioned the Dinan kit which brings up the HP to 360-370? On the 535 making it close to the 550 at a much lower cost. Having said that the gas mileage on the 535 would probably better (not that it's really a factor anyway).

Just wondering if anyone can comment on the Dinan 535 and it's power? How does it feel? Have you compared it to the V8?

Did you choose your car yet?
Just curious which way you went.

If you haven't, I'd like to share my experience after driving both.
The F10 535 w M sport and DDC felt slightly better from a handling standpoint (it should since its about 400 lbs lighter). Engine response is good since the turbo kicks in relatively quick.
The sound, under WOT sound nice, unmistakeable like a BMW turbo 6 cyl does (ie sounds like a 335i).
The F10 550i feels a little heavier. Note...neither car has steering feel like the older 5 series so my "feel" is literally seat of the pants. The 550i, however, makes itself know at part throttle (the torque kicks in early) and WOT (the torque really kicks in). The 550i sounds (too) quiet at idle and part throttle but at mid to WOT, there is no mistake, NO MISTAKE that is is a detuned version of the M5 motor.
I neither race, rally, or drift my cars so peppy 'round town is good enough for me.
If you wait for the 2013, it is well rumored that the 550i will have the dual scroll turbo kicking it up to 445hp. No need for Dinan, IMHO.
Drive them both (WOT if you can).
Good luck,

I've driven both and nothing (stock) can rival the v8 turbo power of the 550. You'll have to find a dinan 535 and try it but IMO if you go with 535 you may as well save even more and get a 528 turbo 4...its only 60hp less than the 535 and with any luck will have some aftermarket power upgrades available and once that happens you'll have something much more unique. That said, I would still go with 550!

Check his sug block. It's been updated and shows he went with the 535xi.
