today i drove the 520d with the normal automatic - honestly I was impressed. it was not as bad as I thought it would be after collecting feedback from you. you are right - if you are crusing at 50-60, it struggles but this is complaining at the highest level. the vibrations of a 520d e60 was worse - my 2 cents.
if the delivery time of the 520d was not somewhere in the 6 month region, this is the car i would have ordered. instead I have opted for the 525d.. (Although for a very split second I was thinking of the 535d

I'm very happy with the BMW HiFi Professional sound system, actually almost too happy;
can't play the bass and treble full as before
The 20" wheels is a must on a F10, everything else would look too small.
I'm a OEM guy and these wheels looks "BMW", not cheap.
But nor was the car, more than 60.000 ? (600.000 SEK) over here.
Did test drive new M-B 250cdi (5-speed auto!) but it is not nearly as nice as the BMW F10 is.

I have the 7G auto, that's a must and actually the 2011 E250 will get the 7G too.
It's much about making a decision and be happy about it. Now that I've lived with both the E61 530d and the S212 E350 CDI I'm quite curtain I'm not fooling myself when I say that the MB is making my life happier...
Maybe I'll get the F11 LCI 535d when is out...

The 525dA will be perfect. It has a lower torque limit.
The 520d don't like revs under 1.500 rpm at all,
otherwise the engine is very strong and nice.

BMW EfficientDynamics in the new BMW X3: Premiere for Auto Start Stop function in conjunction with automatic transmission.
The new BMW X3 xDrive35i is equipped as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This option, also unique within the competitive environment, is available for the BMW X3 xDrive20d as an alternative to the standard six-speed manual gearbox.
The automatic transmission is combined for the first time with an Auto Start Stop function. When stopping at road junctions or in a traffic jam, the engine is automatically switched off. As soon as the driver takes his or her foot off the brake pedal, the engine restarts. If the Auto Hold function is activated, brief pressure on the accelerator pedal is sufficient.

I agree. The concept is interesting and I think Porsche has this also on their new Cayenne models but too many things can go wrong. I would hate to be at a stoplight and the engine just die on me and not start again. I think a better alternative to saving gas might be to use selective cylinder deactivation (like in certain Chrysler and Honda models) or go completely hybrid.

yes it is done - after spending about 24 hours trying to decide whether 525d or 535d, I decided for the 525d.. Ordered this afternoon: m-sport, white outside, black inside, 19", activesteer, comfort seats, logic 7, nav prof, SAT etc...
After 4 E60s, 1 E90 and e71 in the lats 5 years, I am looking forward to the luxurious f10..
