Contact-free tailgate opening (foot operated) stopped working after m bumper retrofit
Hi!
As in the title, I had my 2015 5-series retrofitted with M-aerodynamics package and just noticed that kicking under the bumper no longer opens the trunk. I have tried all sorts of motion including the following, BMW-recommended way:
And it does not work.
There are no errors in ISTA and everything seems to be connected and mounted correctly (forgive the pic quality):
Does anything needs to be recoded or recalibrated perhaps? If so, could anyone point me in the right direction as to what to change in the FRM or what service operation to run in ISTA?
Thanks in advance!

It's an OE rear M-sport bumper, bought used and repainted, installed along with the necessary guide (OE 51127906292), lower guide for tow hitch (OE 51127907147) and adapter (OE 511280538540). Part numbers do not seem to change depending on presence (or absence) of S322 Comfort Access.
The contactless opening and electric tow hitch were factory-fitted.

Go under service functions>Automatic tailgate operation>Power tailgate initialization and choose initialization of automatic tailgate operation.
That should do it unless the sensor is not positioned correctly but it looks good

@seanjordan20 thank you! will try that tomorrow and post back.
edit: but the tailgate itself works fine when opened via keyfob or a button in the cabin. is that still worth doing?

Did not work. The procedure went thru (it made me open and close the trunk by using a button) but no change afterwards

It's an 8 year old BMW so there are always some faults But nothing in the FRM or otherwise relevant to the trunk operation.
I haven't checked the fuses yet but surely a blown fuse would either immobilize the trunk lid or at least throw an error.
I suspect that this issue may be somehow related to a diffuser under the bumper (the part that the exhaust sticks thru which was part of the bumper in the non-msport), but I haven't found any operations in ISTA that would let me e.g. calibrate the sensitivity of the sensors.
