Sales of the 5 series during August (3,047 units) were higher than in July (2,724), but they were below sales from one year ago (August 2009 sales of 3,536). BMW does not break out how many of these sales are F10 or E60 or GT.

Meanwhile, MB reports that sales of the E-Class jumped 26% this August over last year, to a whopping 5,882 units. Ouch.

muchos gracias, I wonder what the "reason" will be this month for the F10s lackluster sales

Cant believe MB though, but the numbers dont lie....

Wasn't there a factory shutdown in August, or at least the re-tooling for the September builds?

there's always a factory shut down in August, but July units would have already been produced and on the lots long before then as it takes 10-12 wks for delivery. I don't believe orders are counted in sales (could be wrong), but I can't imagine that many people canceling orders in August to wait for Sept. builds for the new com boxes/features. Also even then, you'd be able to still in August for a Sept. production F10....

numbers are still pretty good IMO for a new model/design......and I'm not too familiar what the August MB e-class purchase incentives were vs. the minimal F10 incentives...

i think alot of the people who don't surf the forums (and I assume that is about 99% of all the potential owners) will not even have known about the com box unless or until their CA informs them of this. And we all know how communicative CAs are

exactly, so the sept prod changes IMO did not effect Aug sales....

I didn't mean to imply that people were canceling orders, waiting for new features, etc., simply that if August production was down, then I'd expect the last half of August sales numbers to be down, just as I'd expect the first half of Septembers numbers down,

fair enough.....so you are saying lack of inventory...I would think the Aug shut would effect Sept more than Aug sales tho...
