I spoke with a rep at BMW FS today who said that BMW Corporate confirmed that the new 5 series would be out as a 2011 model released in 2010. I guess we all knew that but now it's more or less confirmed.

Perfect. 
Looks like I'll be beta testing the first-year model yet again! To be honest, despite what others have said on this board, my first-year experiences with the E60 were really not that bad at all and really I'm not worried about doing it again with the F10. In other words, I'd actually rather be a tester again than get another E60 just before it's retired...

You can always extend your lease if you get a two year and you think you may want an F10. Tough to predict what's going to happen but you in two year's time you may find stellar deals on the E60 at that time to maintain interest in the "old" model, or you could push your lease out six months and order an F10 if you like what you're seeing on the new car (we'll have seen the new car break cover by then). I'd say a 24 month lease right now would give you best of both worlds.

BMW FS will only extend a lease in increments of a year and they will not even quote you a rate until you are within 60 days or termination. The exception is that they will let you go month to month if you provide them with a production number but that would only give you a maximum of a couple of months. My thinking is that they will unveil the new model in March and production should start a few months later, making a 30 month lease about right.

It'll be interesting to see how things evolve though -- remember that the planets had to be aligned just right to make this place so great. It's going to be hard to duplicate that again so maybe Lomag will just add an F10 forum so we can all hang out here.
