John, I have an E60 M5 at present so I know what 500 odd BHP feels like, problem it's not very accessible in everyday driving. It's not very often I can find a stretch of road to wind the M5 up to 8k rpm and really enjoy its capabilities. I presume the 550 doesn't have that problem due to the forced induction?

Thanks

The E60 535D is a pleasure to drive, minimal lag, sporty when you need it, a cruiser when you don't.

The F10 can only be a refined version of this, although am I right in saying they lost the twin turbo configuration?

Hi Jay, you're not a million miles from where I live!

As far as I know the F10 535D is still twin turbo

Yeap not too far at all! What part of London are you in?

the extra turbo makes a difference! more so at low speeds as driving a friends 530d its noticable to an extent.... Ive not driven the F10s but if you get to test drive it, a good thing to see is how well it responds going from 30-50 and the from 60-70 if you ever get the chance Im sure it will perform just as good as the E60!

Hi Jay, very close to you in a place called loughton.

You guys are going to think I'm a little potty because I'm now thinking about the 550i! It will cost me £6.5k more than the 535d, which I can stretch to. The mpg won't kill me either because it can only be an improvement over my M5 (avge 13mpg!) and unlike the M5 shouldn't need the much more expensive super unleaded. What's worrying me about it is how much more it will devalue than the 535d.

The temptation is that with a 'chip' you get 450 BHP easy and a whole world of torque!!!!!!
