Default 2011 535ix power steering

Power steering has stopped working . I can find no codes with ISTA unless it’s under something else. there’s fluid in the reservoir. I don’t hear a pump whine. Where to look next? Fuses? Electrical connections? Thank you

If you have a reservoir then you have a hydraulic system so there would not be any wiring hence the lack of codes. I'm pretty sure only the electric rack has wiring. Not sure what's going on with yours.

Thank you I’ll check the connection at the rack. I’m suspect as I lived with a brake shimmy for some time. Front rotors and pads have been replaced. I wonder if that shimmy could of loosen the electrical connection at the rack.

Now I'm confused. You said there was power steering in the reservoir and that mean you have a hydraulic system which has no wires. Just let us know what see see when your under there.

I’m confused too. if I look up the parts on real Oem both pump and rackshow there’s clearly an electrical connection on each. What its for I don’t know. But I’m sure of the pnetision fluid reservoir under the hood with the black tank. btw Sean thanks for all your help with my previous dme issue. Bought a hard drive with ISTA loaded and a used ecu that I had cloned by ecu pros out of Pennsylvania . All is working again

Yeah. Maybe I'm looking at the schematic incorrectly. I could of sworn it didn't have a wire unless you have dynamic steering but I thought that was at the steering shaft. Either way check it out and let us know.

No problem with the DME I'm glad you got it sorted. Bad DMEs are hard to sort out without using ISTA or at least INPA. For the future ISTA and Esys are your golden ticket for F and G series. Especially how these modules act in the newer series.
