Why do we let our other halves drive the car?

Mother F^$%#'ing g*d damn son of a b!tch! Took me so long to find this beautiful car, it makes me want to cry...

She managed to scrape a two foot long section of the DRIVER'S side skirt, by the rear wheel, while driving in a parkade. Guess she cut the corner too much in a turn. How do you manage to so badly judge the distance on your own damn side of the car? If it was the passenger side, I'd somewhat understand, but the driver's side??? Come on!

It's not just paint either, some of the scratches are pretty deep...

What's it going to run me? $500 at the body shop? Freakin' hell...

The last car was just a Mazda3, dark grey metallic, so I had a mobile paint guy fix up the front bumper she scraped the crap out of. He does a really nice job. And since this is pretty low to the ground, I figure it'd be hard to spot slight paint variations, so I'm tempted to use him for this, but A) this is a beautiful $50,000 car, and not a Mazda3, so I don't want to do a half ass job with it, and I wonder if the Carbon Black Metallic paint would be too hard to get right? He'd probably charge me a few hundred $ tops.

Thoughts?

Sorry to hear.

But remember it is only the side skirt. If I am not mistaken they are made of plastic.

yes, its only plastic. it can be a lot worse

imagine she was just a touch more aggressive and scraped the rear door, that would be a different story!

Yup, what they said.
It might have been a higher wall and taken out your doors.
Depending on how much structural repairs they have to make on the skirt I believe you will end up somewhat below your estimate.

On the bright side, this is a chip you can cash in during any fight, argument, disagreement with her in the future...

you will probably repair that cheaper than it will cost me to repair my kerbed alloys, so consider yourself lucky.

Thanks guys, good points. I did get off lucky in the grand scheme of things I suppose... That's why I wanted to bounce it off you smart bunch!

It's just that I hate looking at it, LOL!

I fired off the picture to my body shop to see what they think and will report back if anyone's curious.

PS My favourite I suppose has to be the time (on the old Mazda3) when she took out the driver's side mirror parking (IIRC against a column). I really did ask, "How do you manage to not see something that's inches away from your face?"

Seat Memory?

Without it, my wife would probably never drive my car.

Luckily it appears to have missed the door.
