Why did you pick your E61 over an E91

I hear you... I guess short of giving the VIN to a dealer to look up its options, there's no other way of getting the info of what options came on the car?

Well, most of cars I've owned in the past have been out of town. Though, I do enjoy the idea of multi-contour seats, the sport wheel, etc

Or rather I use the sport wheel as an identifier for the multi-contour seats ( I believe the seats could also be just an option, but its easier to find the bundle )
I searched for about a year and a half for the perfect wagon to replace the '07 I had between '10 and '12....found another '07 just this past May and had to drive clear to Albuquerque from Cumming to get it. The 535s are just now starting to be more regular appearances on AutoTrader. There have been some sweet '10s on there...typically not locally but if the right car comes up, it's what you have to do. If you can find one with the m-sport package (bumpers, side skirts, wheels, etc) even better. Good luck with your search...but be patient and wait for the right one!

You can only get the M Sport Package in the last year of production, which is 2010. Prior to that, you could get the Sport Package. I posted the specs/brochure a month or so ago.

I got lucky in that I found the (almost) perfect car with this one, 3 years ago. Outside and inside colours were my first pick, and the only thing missing was the factory PDC option. And it only had 12,000 miles on it at the time. So I had it shipped sight unseen from San Fran to Vancouver - 1000 miles.

Got a link? My 2008 VIN decoded says it has the Msport package, which seems to be the same as on the 2010 (wheels, body kit, shadowline etc)

I posted the ordering guide for the 2010 and a brochure describing ZSP vs ZMP package differences a couple of months ago. Search for something by me maybe with the word "package" in the body. And you could only get it with the 416 Carbon Black Metallic paint colour.

And here's the 2009 ordering guide where you see ZMP is not available.

That one is a candidate, but the price versus mileage. Yeesh.

Maybe if I can get it CPO'd, intake valves cleaned of carbon and both turbos replaced...

-edit-

Found two 09s

The latter being closer to me ( 3 hours drive ). how hard is it to keep that interior clean?

The prior ( Texas ) appears to not have navigation, which I guess isn't the end of the world since ultimately it would no longer be supported ( and Google Maps on my cell phone could be faster to route ). Any other perks to the wider infotainment screen?

If I go take a look at it this weekend, what things should I be aware of outside of the standard N54 engine issues ( intake valve carbon build up, turbos/rattling wastegate, HPFP I dont think is as applicable anymore )

Walnut blasting is a $500 maintenance item, so if it wasn't done, that's all it takes. Not sure the other issues, what there's "to look for". There's a recall on injectors (so find out if it's been done and if not, I'd think a dealer would still do it since it's a recall) and the HPFP and wastegate rattle have extended warranties from BMW, so find out what that extension is (years and miles), in case you run into the issue.

The HPFP will just go, don't think there's much to look for, other than long cranks when you start the car. The rattle, I suppose you can hear when you start the car.

Good luck with the search!
