UPDATE: Windnoise through the Panoramic Sunroof--FIXED!
#1
Just an update to my earlier post regarding windnoise in my 2006 E61....

The dealer replaced the entire assembly, and we had great luck.
It's not noisy anymore!
This was all covered under warranty.
If you're questioning it, go for it!

I have had a running disucussion with my dealer regarding sunroom noise since I got the car last fall. Can you tell me was this work done under a Service Bulletin or was it completed by the dealer simply replacing parts? Any additional information you can give would be appreciated!

They ordered the whole assembly....you can replicate/cure the problem by driving it at speed and pushing UP on the top of the sunroof--the noise goes away.

Thanks for the reply. I can replicate the noise in the same way. The noise is so bad in my car that driving at low speed into a headwind is all it takes.
I remember seeing a service bulletin at one time as well but have not been able to find it to show the dealer.

Don't despair - with the roof closed it should be a very quiet car cruising at speed - particularly with the blind shut too.
Don't even try to drive over 30mph with it wound fully back - ie beyond the first stop - as the wind buffeting is awful, but it should be fine in the first position.
Mine was one of the first Tourings and had the full roof assembly replaced, but due to rattles rather than wind noise.

Had the sunroof seals replaced two days ago. What a difference. It's now quiet in the interior without the headliner closed.
