Relay noises are in my opinion something that should not occur in a modern car of any brand, at least no in a BMW.
It has irritated me that I get a ticking sound each time the rear window wiper gets in action. I believe this is from the relay controlling the el-engine of the rear window wiper. My question to you are:
is this normal?
or should I claim a service/warranty for this.
Thanks

I've had a few issues with the tailgate and glass section. Each time the problem with the glass tailgate occured, I could hear a relay switching in the rhs rear wing above the battery. The problem has been corrected now and the relay switching sound has gone!
I cannot recall hearing the relay switching when the rear wiper is activated, so I suggest that you get the dealer to check.
Good luck

Hi!
I got the same ticking noise from the rear wiper in my 530iT-05. However, I don't think it's the relay making these noises - this since I hear several (maybe 5 to 10) tick sounds per wipe.
In my opinion, the relay would only make to tick sounds - one as it goes and then another one as it stops again.
I can't remember having the sound from the beginning, rather the sound suddenly appeared after having hade the car for less than 4 months.
