My Ride: 2010 535i wagon

I read about the October recall of 2008 to 2010 5 series vehicles to repair taillights that may fail. I called BMW's 800 number listed in the recall notice and learned that only sedans were subject to recall. The wagons were excluded because these have a different taillight assembly. http://www.bmwblog.com/2013/09/20/bm...-series-units/
I am pleased to avoid a trip to the dealer for the recall, However, I wonder if the small volume of wagons sold in the U.S. means taillight problems may occur, but not show up in sufficient numbers to motivate BMW to initiate a recall.

Coincidentally, my rear tail lights went out. I replaced one that was 'out' and it seemed fine for a week or so. Then the other one went out, so I replaced it with a new bulb but it didnt work. I then inspected the bulb socket and noticed what looks like a burned/shorted connection on one of the terminals. Now one of my rear tail light bulbs does not work at all and I keep getting the warning on the dash. I think I know how to fix it, but would be nice if our cars were covered under this.
