Hi,
Sometimes when i get out of my car I can hear a pump of some sort operating at the rear. I can only assume its the suspension leveling itself or somthing like that? Is this normal? Or is the pump on its way out? I know the geezer who had it before me used to load it up with rubble
Thanks all

yes, it is the compressor working.
yes, it is normal to some extent:
if you hear a light buzz for 5-10 seconds, it ok. if it gets louder it means something might be wrong with the compressor, and if the time to pump it up increases with time, then its a proof that something is wrong with it. at 40 seconds the relay will switch it off to protect it from buring out and you will get an error message.
these things also have a mind of their own sometimes - my second hand compressor (2007) buzzes when I get out of the car only in cold weather. I put it in 15 months ago and so far it has not failed.
