Default steering wheel pulse/throb

I get a slight sense of a pulsing/throbbing coming through the steering wheel while driving pretty much at any speed and gets amplified to the point of shaking under braking. The weird thing is that it feels different from one day to the next, sometimes worse sometimes better. The rotors/pads were replaced recently, i have changed out the front control arms also. I know my rims are not 100% true., but they are not that bad. (hit a pothole). This pulsing/vibration has always been in the background since I bought the car btw. I did get better once the brakes were done, but its more noticeable again

Put the front wheels in the rear. Look at sway bar bushings, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods and check wheel for play at the hub. It took me a while to hunt my vibration at high speeds but I eventually found it. There's play somewhere you just have to take the time to find it.

Check tie rods and swap tires. After that unless it's AWD there nothing else that would cause it but incorrect torque specs on wheels, calipers and joints.

Get your wheels checked also. I have vibration from hitting one too many potholes. My tire place noticed two wheels were barely in balance. I'm due to take my wheels in for repair. Mine isn't terribly bad yet is why I've been lagging. I was quoted $100 per wheel for repair. They'll check them for free though. I had another BMW that the wheel needed repair. They found a pock mark causing it.

update, I had the front wheels rebalanced and straightened (as best as they could). I also noticed that the front forward control arm bushings have leaked out fluid from them (about a year old (SIDEM)) . I will be replacing the bushings with nolathane bushings (similar to powerflex street use) . Will report back once everything is

It seems the issue was with the rotors. They were actually relatively new, however, I realized that they were not bedded incorrectly. I replaced that with Zimmerman and followed their instruction. No more issues, but I still want to replace the control arm bushings with something more robust.
