Slight shake in the steering wheel when turning
I have noticed this for some time, but when turning the steering wheel, I feel a slight shake in the steering wheel at about the 11 and 1 o'clock positions. Is this normal? What could this be attributed to?

Do you mean it's shaking because it is picking up some kind of vibration or because it feels like it is loose or otherwise not secured properly. Either way, it seems like you should take it in.
It's not **too** serious, but the steering is not solid as a rock. It's like you turn left or right a little and passing the 11 or 1 position, it feels a little 'jittery' I guess... Does anyone else notice this, or maybe i'm just being picky?

[/quote]Car is a 2004, built in October 2003. I have Bridgestone Potenza runflats. It seems I have started noticing this since I got the car back from service last time. They swapped out a steering wheel for me with one that doesn't have buttons that rattle. As for vibrations, I feel the road more through the steering wheel at 55-65, but the steering wheel isn't shaking or anything. I've always felt this car rides better at 90+ miles per hour anyways....I just keep thinking back to my friends Lexus GS300 with 80K miles on it and how it's steering feels WAAAAY better than my car's at 20K. Maybe it's a BMW trademark on the sports package to be this way, I really don't know. Seems I need to drive another 530 with SP to compare....

I just noticed a similar thing today... I was messing around and doing zig-zag driving in a parking lot at like 15-20 mph.. and noticed not a vibration, but a quiet click or bump each time i turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction.. I think i could say it's at the 11 and 1 oclock position too. It is really quiet and i had to turn off the radio to hear it.

I had the same clicking a couple of months ago after i had them replace my steering wheel for the leather pealing. After which i had the clicking and like a tight spot. i made a call to the dealer and set up an appointment but the clicking went away before i could get it in. However i had a subsaquent traction or steering fault that turned out to be the szc module fault, it is located somewhere behind the steering wheel or on the shaft and they said they would need more time to diagnose the exact fault.
They had the car for 8 or 9 days last 2weeks ago and could not find any fault with the actual module and the fault and or the clicking has yet to return and hopefully wont
