So yours is an 06, but had the older style flaps? Intersting as mine is a 55 and from some of the reading, it looked like it might be OK.

Mine was a desember 04, so 2005 model and it had the flaps. Did NOT look good when i removed then. Not long until i would have some bits inside my engine. So really happy i did mine. As mentioned, About 1,5 hours of work.

Yup definately the old style swirl flaps. The only way you're going to have piece of mind though is to open it up and have a look and for the sake of 40quid on ebay you may as well have a set of blanking plates to hand when you do.

Never thought of ebay - always looked more expensive than that.

I did mine few months ago, remapped the car to take care of the low rev pickup problem and 4k miles later all perfect!

Just FYI - just about the only function of the flaps that concerns the driver (i.e. excluding the improved exhaust gas quality) is a slight improvement of the power/torque between 1000 and 1500 rpm.
I.e. by removing the flaps you have actually slightly worsened your "pickup" over the said rev range.
