Should I buy a high mileage e61 Wagon?
I own a 03 e46 convertible and love it. My wife is unable to drive a manual shift but loves riding with me. We have seen a 2007 530xi wagon that she fell in love with after a test drive. The car has 142,000 miles and clean carfax the same as my e46. The question is should we buy it for $12,500? It has had two previous owners one in New York for the first 50k and then sold as CPO in Georgia. The BMW dealer changed the rear wheel bearings and DVD reader for the NAV everything else works fine. Please advise on high mileage purchase and thanks in advance for any responses.

The NA 30 motor is a fantastic high mileage motor. The e61 chassis has some items that can become expensive maint at higher miles. Id make sure to have a shop check out the Panoramic roof, the Auto rear Hatch, and the rear self leveling suspension.

I have a 2006 with 85k miles. No serious problems, but I would ask the dealer when the fluids for the transmission, torque converter, and front/rear differentials was changed last. Their "lifetime" fluid policy is bunk. To keep the car healthy with higher and higher mileages, clean fluids are a must.
Taking the car to a well-regarded independent BMW shop for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) might not hurt.

Hey Guys thanks for the response I will report back once the deal is closed. Still looking to have the car checked out. Fortunately my wife has covered parking at work and the garage parking at home, which should reduce instance of clogged drains. Dealer offers a warranty for $3000.00 but sounds most problems are fixed for less than that. Thinking of passing on the extra coverage since the mileage and solid repair history looks to have handled most problems. Let me know is my thinking is blurred by the cars beauty.
