Default Shaky vibration feeling in drive train during acceleration

After getting my axles replaced I noticed my steering wheel is wobbly/vibration, only at certain speeds mostly when accelerating. I feel the vibration in the drive train area. Could this be an issue with the engine mounts? My wagon has 122k miles... Anyone else have this happen? The engine mounts seem to be worn out.. I never got an alignment after getting new axles. It seems more vibration in the drive train rather than the front arms being worn

Was the vibration happening before the shaft change. If not I would start there.

Yes not as bad. After getting the car back is when I really noticed it. Gear change has nothing to do with the vibration. It's only when accelerating.

Your shafts have nothing to do with gear changing. Maybe it's me calling them shafts (half shafts) and you calling them axles is the confusion with that.

Since it was happening before the change i would look at worn bushings or maybe this that were not torqued back correctly.

Hopefully you got a BMW Specialist to do the work or else who knows how they torqued things or even if they did at all.

It's come down to motor mounts. They could use a replacement. Hopefully this will get take care of my issue.

Pull the AWD fuse in the glove box to rule out the CV joints.

When I ran into this in my e61, it turned out to be the inner CV joints- the boots had torn and all the grease had flung out. Without knowing what it was, my first move was to take out the driveshaft (transfer case to front diff) to see if the shake was something in the front driveline. Only once I was under the car did I see that the boot was torn. I drove for a few weeks with the front driveshaft while parts and time to work on the car lined up. During that time, there was no shaking.

You've got a few options to diagnose the front driveline as I see it- regardless, you should check your front axles (again), but then you can pull your front driveshaft, or use xdelete, or unplug the transfer case module under the front right side carpet. Since your car coasts smoothly (as mine did), and the vibration is only under acceleration, I have a feeling it's somewhere in the front driveline.

Motor mounts for me (my right one had a crack in the housing) was a grinding/whirring around low speed corners turning left, on or off the gas. that was NOTHING like shake from the duff CV joint.

It could also be your CSB or guibo or something else in the overall driveline, but taking the front driveshaft out will tell you that.

Or...just pull the AWD fuse in the glovebox.

is it really that simple? Have you done it?

Because it sure looks more connected than a simple fuse. ...which is probably why I keep coming across people unplugging the module under the carpet.
