My 2 year old beemer starts to rust at the trunk lip on the inside. Maybe due to the salty roads in the winter time. Dealer already ordered a new hatch. I wonder if more parts of the car will be rusty soon. As long it is in the 6 year guaranteee time i am not worried. Also got this pneumatic system for the rear wheel load. also broken. Also being replaced. Sincei got this car (3 weeks) already replaced the hood, 2 rims, some shield under the car, the gas spring of the hatch. lucky it is all guarantee. wondering what will be the next breakdown. Maybe we can setup a worldwide bet on my next problem?

btw still love the car the more brakes down during guarentee time the newer it gets.

I think rust is something that isn't too common on these cars. Do you ever wax your car? Was any body work done on that area of the trunk lip?

Many of us drive our cars in winter with salty roads but look around -- how often do you see an old, rusted out BMW? On a two year old car, it's clearly not normal...

got to be the roads, these cars do not rust quick, maybe in 5 - 6 years but certainl not in 2 years.

As long as the delaer replaces them for free under warranty i believe.

Got any pics of the rust?
