I didn't know this but in East Texas, the speed limit on US20 is 80 mph

it's about 1826 miles from SF to Dallas one-way. we did 3 - 600 mile stages per day with time to hit 4 national parks on US20 route and 2 motel nights. we haven't returned yet - maybe next Monday - taking the US40 route and hitting more national parks




I didn't know this but in East Texas, the speed limit on US20 is 80 mph

Parts of the interstate in New Mexico also have an 80 mph speed limit....

Great pics and sounds like a great trip.
Besides the national parks along I-40, I'd recommend the Sandia Peak tram near Albuquerque, NM, Meteor Crator in eastern AZ, and the Hoover Dam on the AZ,NV border. Although, it took me 15 years to visit all 3 places.

Did you get a chance to have a muffuletta sandwich at Central Grocery in New Orleans? Better than Freddie's Sandwiches in SF.
