My search is over, 2008 535Xi with just 31k miles arrived from TX just in time for New England's first snow storm.

Unicorn or automatic transmission?

Automatic, as wife can't drive manual, though I did come across a couple of manuals in my search, they are not as hard to come by as many make to look like.

Yeah... they're out there. I continue to find them.

But the option choices and configuration choices are not as vast as auto wagons, or sedans especially.

When I really want to drool about options, I just search for sedans. "Oh, look, another fully-optioned manual trans E60 550i with super low miles and full M-Sport package."

Find one of those in an E61 and I WILL TAKE IT!

I don't know man, N63 is a horrific engine longevity-wise, so unless you feel like changing timing chains, valve guides, valve seals etc every 100k mi, I'm sticking with tried and true N54. 300hp is more than enough for my daily use.

I wasn't suggesting that I would keep the N63 stock.

I'd sooner try and squeeze S85 in an E61 and make it RWD. Probably more cost-effective in a long run vs "engine out" N63 refresh every 100k mi.
