With the car parked and engine off, at times there is what sounds like a pneumatic pump coming on for a short period of time.
Is this normal and what is it?
Thanks

Must be the pump for the air suspension in the rear axle. The level is self adjustable.

This was happening to me, seemed harmless at first, but I had a faulty pump, which ended up going on (and staying on) randomly until it drained my battery numerous times. They replaced my pump, and the problem was solved. So if it's only for a few seconds after you've stopped your car, you should be fine. But if you hear it going on well after you've stopped your car, may want to take it in and have it checked.
