A old, but very well working remedy for removing dried out bugs without damaging the paint.
Park the car in the shade, take some old newspapers and make them wet. "Stick" the newspapers on the front and where the bugs are, and leave them on for 15-20 min. If the newspapers start to dry put more water on. Then clean the car as normal after this. No problem with damages to the paint.

I think you should all know by now, that if there is confusion in one of these E61 forum posts, its typically caused by me!
