I looked at a Jeep SRT-8 when I was looking at replacing the wife's X5 4.6iS
It went and sounded well in a straight line but the ride quality was horrible, handling was questionable, the trim quality sucked and fitting a tow hitch was a pain because of the centrally mounted exhausts.
If its only an occasional car these things may not matter much I suppose, but I went out and bought a 2 year old Porsche Cayenne twin Turbo instead for the same money. Does everything the Jeep does but 75% better!![Cool](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

Interesting points. Light-duty hitches are available now. I need more seat time to assess the ride. The trim/interior is certainly sub-german. For the same money, a twin-turbo Cayenne would be very interesting.
But here in the states they aren't the same money... the SRT is about 1/2 the price as the Cayenne Turbo.

You're kidding right...?
Apples and oranges. Will the SRT 8 do 230km/h and let you carry on a conversation and have a cup of coffee with one hand on the wheel? It'll get there faster and I bet its a whole lot more exciting to drive at any speed over 85 miles an hour (the wrong kind of exciting that is). Be patient you'll find a nice 530xiT on Autotrader with manual and sport package.
Heck I'll sell you mine but with the fall of the US exchange rate you could go buy a new one for what I'd want! Up here if you load one up they are $89,000 by the time you pay sales tax! At current exchange that is US$83000!!!
I should really sell mine then sneak across the border and buy a 535xiT for the same money!
I have to think the SRT 8 would get tiresome and the lack of refinement would get old, along with the extra trips to the dealership.
