Default Pink plug on rear window

Hi All,

I’m new to the forum and need some help, I love my beemers but occasionally they test us with the most annoying problems, I have a M6 manual swap, a 650i and a 535d touring which is causing me problems at the moment!

I was removing my diversity antenna as I’m having remote problems and the pink plug came off in my hand 🙃

Does anyone know what the pink plug that goes from the rear window to the diversity antenna is for?

it’s not the radio aerial as I have reception.

Many thanks

Calvin

It has a 3 wire ribbon cable? Should plug into thr inside of the antenna amplifier if I remember correctly. You might not have much AM or keyless entry range right now. That rear spoiler has the antenna in it and the diversity antenna amplifier is mounted on the glass under the spoiler.

Update: When I was locking up last night I tried it again and it’s decided to start working again, and from inside the house so I really don’t know what’s going on with this,

Here’s a photo showing the ribbon cable that’s now not connected to anything……

It's a 3-pin flex cable. It appears you have it plugged in. Why do you think it's not connected to anything?

Hi Mate,

Because it came off in my hand, I believe it did go to the rear window until I pulled it off by accident…..

Those are the connections to the radio antennas embedded in the window glass. If you've torn off the flat harness to the window - you can create new antennas by connecting normal copper wire to that connector and running the copper under the spoiler. Like so:

You can finagle and reconnect it but if you have ALL radio reception, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply……. do you just run a single wire from each pin, do any of them join and route back to the diversity unit?

Cheers
