Got BMW to take a look at the 'wind noise' when panoramic shade was open. It had become worst month after month. They changed the seal/joints and did not charged for labor. Result is amazing. No more wind noise. Not even a little bit, even at high speed. Happy me.

My car being early 2006 530xd warranty is gone now. yet they still offered free labor (they claimed 4 hours for dismantling + realignment etc..). Not that often that BMW is that nice... and parts was pretty cheap (~46 euros). Yet to mention they also had to change front disc and pad and back brake pads [which was not cheap overall ). Good thing with BMW in France is that they have fix cost for any standard ops. So you know exactly how much you will pay before you go. And that is the same for every dealer. Very different than UK where I get many fantasy cost from stealer to stealer.

I have had noise from my roof since day 1, the dealer adjusted it and it is no better.

Did you always have noise as well?

I always had a bit of noise too, but it degraded in the last 6 months. (I bought my car used).
Let say it was clear that once the cache was open the wind noise was substantially higher, to the point it was uncomfortable.
After the adjustment and the new seal /joint I can say I have to listen carefully to notice a very very slight difference.
The new seal seems to look different than the old one too. Yet I might be wrong on this but forgot to take picture of the old one before change. BMW confirmed to me that the old seal was not in compressive mode thus the air noise.
I am yet still afraid that noise might come back with age...

I had noise from day one, too. This was wind noise that was really noticeable with the shade open, but ok with the shade closed. The dealer replaced the seal and adjusted the glass under warranty, and it's really silent now. There might be slightly more noise with the shade open, but I'm pretty satisfied.
