I recently read a post that implied someone had an e60 with the panarama sunroof? Is this an option in some markets? Did anyone ever hear any rumors or substantiated possibility of it becoming an option in the US markets?

I think currently it's only available for wagons, however I've seen some spy picks of E60 sedan with panoramic roof.

I'm pretty sure the panoramic roof will be offered as an option in the second iteration (i.e., 2007 model) of the 550i.
If you look at the size of the roof you will realise there is no way it could fit on the saloon. Because the roof slopes down unlike the estate there would be no where for it to open in to unless they make flexible glass that can bend and fold!
The panoramic sunroof is fixed, i.e. there is no open/shut like a typical sunroof (at least that's how Merc does it).
